Prior to the listing of Nippon Building Fund ("NBF"), Mitsui Fudosan UK played an instrumental role in arranging the involvement of Hermes for the conception and launch of this fund.
This culminated in Hermes transferring its interest in the Shinjuku Mitsui Building No. 2 to NBF in exchange for units of the fund, as well as later taking a minority stake in the management company, Nippon Building Fund Management Ltd.
During the previous 18 years, the building had been co-owned between the parties and managed by the Mitsui Fudosan Group.
In September 2001, NBF became the first J-REIT to be listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, and continues to be the largest publicly traded real estate fund in Japan.
